General Industry Health & Safety Courses
(10 Hour – $250.00 & 30 Hour – $450.00)
General Industry Standards, as they relate to the U.S. Department of Labor – Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Codes of Federal Regulations (CFR), are Guidelines that deal with Occupational Health and Safety. Training in accordance with these guidelines will ensure that workers will be aware of the various types of hazards that exist at both the workplace and at home. Shown in the picture to the left, are various types of hazardous household chemicals , i.e., detergents, solvents and cleaners that are stored in a cabinet under the sink of a home. This location provides an excellent opportunity for children from the ages of 2 thru 5 years of age to swallow the contents of the containers that contain liquids that resemble water or fruit punch. In most cases, parents or guardians do not have a toll-free Poison Control telephone number posted to call if someone should accidentally swallow hazardous materials. There are also many hazardous materials located at work sites that are flammable, explosive, reactive, radioactive, ignitable, or corrosive, that if not handled safely, could cause serious injuries to the workers. The 10-Hour General Industry Course provides basic awareness training on how to recognize hazardous materials and conditions, how to safely handle hazardous materials and situations, and how to prevent serious accidents. The 30-Hour General industry Course is a much more advanced and detailed course that focuses mainly on material handling; spill control, avoiding contact, controlling and eliminating most of the hazards that effect personnel in the workplace. Many of the subjects taught during the 30-Hour General Industry Course are similar to the various safety-related subjects that are taught during the 40-Hour HAZWOPER Course. Upon satisfactory completion of either the 10-Hour or 30-Hour General Industry Course, the Students will receive an attractive Completion Certificate from PSTS, Inc., and a wallet-size Certification card provided by OSHA that will be issued by PSTS, Inc. The students that complete the Courses will then be in compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910 Standards.
